Power Tools used in Industry, ranging from electric, pneumatic and hydraulic, grinders, polishers jigsaws, breakers etc. all of which vibrate when operated.
People who are exposed to this form of vibration during their working day may develop a condition called Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), a common symptom is vibration white finger (VWF).
Changes in legislation regarding the management of vibration become effective on the 6th July 2005.
Five Sides Industrial are pleased to announce they have taken steps to help employers manage and / or control vibration by introducing unique and patented FSI Power Tool Timer systems.

This system is suitable for use on all variations of pneumatic and electrically powered tools and offers a robust, easy to install and low maintenance solution to managing tool use in the work place. Put in simple terms, the timer is a small box that fits into either the electric supply cable or air hose, if a pneumatic tool, and whilst the tool is in operation the clock on the timer is counting the number of minutes the tool has been used for.
The immediate benefit of the FSI Power Tool Timer system is to assist in the management and control of vibration exposure, and help meet the new requirements of The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005.
In addition to this, Five Sides can offer further assistance to help minimise vibration in the workplace and assist employers to mitigate the potential for future E.L. claims, by providing a process vibration consultancy service, which also includes Health Surveillance, advising alternative processes, preventative tool maintenance and operator training, all of which will meet the requirements of BS EN ISO 5349 1 / 2 : 2001.
